چکیده

Negative ion photoelectron spectra of Ni, , Pd,, and Pt, are presented for electron binding energies up to 3.35 eV at an instrumental resolution of 8-10 meV. The metal cluster anions are prepared in a flowing afterglow ion source. Each dimer exhibits multiple low-lying electronic states and a vibrationally resolved ground state transition. Franck-Condon analyses yield the anion and neutral vibrational frequencies and the bond length changes between anion and neutral. The electron affinities are determined to be EA(Ni,) =0.926*0.010 eV, EA(Pd2) = 1.685*0.008 eV, and EA(Pt,) = 1.898*0.008 eV. The electronic configurations of the ground states are tentatively assigned. Comparison of the nickel group dimers to the coinage metal dimers sheds light on the d orbital contribution to the metal bonding in the nickel group dimers.

Ni(O2) complex by anion photoelectron spectroscopy

We report the first anion photoelectron spectroscopic study of nickel monoxide ~NiO!, nickel dioxide ~ONiO!, and nickel-O2 complex, Ni~O2!. The adiabatic electron affinity ~EA! of NiO is measured to be 1.46 ~2! eV. Five low-lying electronic excited states (A P , a D , B F , b S, c P) are observed for NiO at 0.43 ~4!, 0.94 ~4!, 1.24 ~3!, 1.80 ~10!, and 2.38 ~10! eV above the ground state, respec...

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic study of non-stoichiometric nickel and nickel-copper spinel manganites

The surface of non-stoichiometric nickel and nickel–copper spinel manganites has been investigated by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The oxidation states of the nickel, copper and manganese cations present on the surface of the samples were 21 1 determined from the analysis of the M 2p core levels (M5Ni, Cu, Mn). In particular, both Cu and Cu were evidenced in the 3 / 2 structure where...

Factors controlling material deposition in the CVD of nickel sulfides, selenides or phosphides from dichalcogenoimidodiphosphinato complexes: deposition, spectroscopic and computational studies.

The series of nickel dichalcogenoimidodiphosphinates [Ni{(i)Pr(2)P(X1)NP(X2)(i)Pr(2)}(2)]: X1 = S, X2 = Se (1), X1 = X2 = S (2), and X1 = X2 = Se (3) have been successfully used as single-source precursors (SSPs) to deposit thin films of nickel sulfide, selenide or phosphide; the material deposited depended on both temperature and method used for the deposition. Aerosol-assisted (AA) chemical v...

Photoelectron spectroscopy of nickel-benzene cluster anions.

(Nickel)(n)(benzene)(m) (-) cluster anions were studied by both mass spectrometry and anion photoelectron spectroscopy. Only Ni(n)(Bz)(m) (-) species for which n > or =m were observed in the mass spectra. No single-nickel Ni(1)(Bz)(m) (-) species were seen. Adiabatic electron affinities, vertical detachment energies, and second transition energies were determined for (n,m)=(2,1), (2,2), (3,1), ...

Enhanced Activity of Supported Ni Catalysts Promoted by Pt for Rapid Reduction of Aromatic Nitro Compounds

To improve the activities of non-noble metal catalysts is highly desirable and valuable to the reduced use of noble metal resources. In this work, the supported nickel (Ni) and nickel-platinum (NiPt) nanocatalysts were derived from a layered double hydroxide/carbon composite precursor. The catalysts were characterized and the role of Pt was analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolutio...
